SIMON BEGGS TO COACH KINGSTON IN 2007
Simon has played at Hatherleigh in the past five seasons and was involved in a Premiership there as coach. Before his time in the Mid South East he won the Virgo and Mail Medals at Kingston in 1999 and 2000.
BRAD RICHARDSON TO COACH THE DEMONS IN 2007
ITs
going to be hard to top Naracoorte Football Clubs 2006 A grade premiership,
but the clubs newly-appointed senior coach Brad Richardson is determined to
have a crack. The
32-year-olds appointment was announced by the club at its annual general
meeting on November 29.
Appointed
as a non-playing coach at this stage, Richardson succeeds Dean Woosnam, who is
moving to Queensland for work. Woosnam played a pivotal role in securing the
Demons first A grade flag in the Kowree-Naracoorte Tatiara Football League
the club last having tasted success back in 1992 in the then Kowree-Naracoorte
Football League.
Richardson
comes to Naracoorte from nearby Padthaway, where he coached the A grade for
three years. His football career began in Adelaide, where he played under 17s
and under 19s for West Adelaide then began an 11-year stint with PHOS Camden in
the Amateurs.
He
captained the clubs A grade for two years in 2000-01 and played in its 2002
premiership team, which he says are highlights of his career to date. However
the period with the Phantoms also records his biggest disappointment. He missed
playing in the 2000 premiership side due to injury. A backman in his playing
days, Richardson says he is very excited about the big challenge he has been
given to coach the Demons.
Hes
also looking at it extremely realistically. When asked about his aspirations
for the season ahead, he simply says: To maintain the level of success the
club has enjoyed over the last couple of years.
Richardson,
or Richo as he is known, says the clubs young players are obviously its key
and hes looking forward to more colts getting a run with the seniors.
Pre-season
training starts on December 7 at 6pm at the club. Sessions will also be held on
December 14 and 21 before Christmas, before training kicks off in earnest
mid-January.
Richardson,
who has worked in Mini Jumbuks administration/accounting department since
coming to the SE, is single and enjoys sports in general, including having a
hit of golf.
He met
many club players, supporters and sponsors at its Christmas family day at the
Demon Inn on December 3 and says he is looking forward to seeing them all
getting right behind the Demons again in 2007. Any interested players should
contact Richardson on 0438502055.

In what was a tight and hard fought KNTFL Grand Final, Naracoorte won its first A Grade premiership in 14 seasons, defeating KeithIt had been a dramatic day for all concerned, after the siren an emotional coach Woosnam hugged and cried on everyone in sight,
including his parents who had made the trip down from Mildura for the match. It was a great triumph for Woosie and his Demons,
they had won their last four Home and Away matches and clinched four finals in a row to take the flag, after struggling somewhat in
the early part of the season.
Obviously devastated, the Keith hierachy to their credit were gracious in defeat, coach Butler and captain Damien Smart offering
their warm congratulations in the Demons rooms after the game. Meantime Naracoorte isnt resting on its laurels, having advertised
for a playing coach for 2007 within hours of the final siren.

DEMONS BREAK UNBEATEN RUN OF LUCINDALE by countryfooty.com.au Editor - Lawrie Colliver
In what ended up being the Match of the Round, Naracoorte triumphed by four points, over a fast finishing Lucindale. With over
six first choice players out, it was Naracoorte best win of the year, handing the reigning Premier its first defeat of the season.
The key to the Demons victory was their efforts in the second term where they added 8.4 to 1.2, with wingman Jamie Dixon clearly
best on ground, kicking six goals, four of which came in the second quarter. Nathan Smith also had a fine day, along with Michael
Brighton and Rohan Smith.
Under grey skies, Lucindale won the toss and elected to kick with a slight breeze. Some of the early match-ups included, Hood on
McDowell, Hampton with Fiegert and Woosnam v Smith. After a tight opening five minutes, Fisher and Smith goaled for the Roos
and it looked as though the reigning Premiers were on their way. From there, the Demons on-ball brigade moved into top gear with
Phillips, thanks to free kick, goaling to put the homeside on the board. McDowell passed to Fiegert for a quick reply, making it 3.0 to
1.1 in favour of Lucindale. Sam Logan then thrilled the good crowd, taking a hanger deep in the left forward pocket, after which he
goaled with a superb Banana kick. Donnelly then snaped another to tie it away at the 24 minute mark.
Quarter Time: Naracoorte 3.3 (21) to Lucindale 3.2 (20)
In the second quarter, the Demons came out full of run, with
in this term, kicked a terrific goal on the run. Donnelly goaled on the left for the Demons 6th and when
suddenly had a 26 point lead. There was no let-up from the Demons, as Logan took a great mark in the goal square to pinch his third,
then thanks to great team play which started from half back, Munro kicked a goal, Naracoortes 7th unanswered, which made it 9.4 to 3.3
after the 19 minute mark. The Demons mid-field was on fire and despite a goal to Lucindales Fiegert,
Naracoorte a 45 point lead at half time
Half Time: Naracoorte 11.7 (73) to Lucindale 4.4 (28)
As expected, the reigning Premiers came out hard in third term, but could only manage a succession of behinds, with Phil Smith missing
a couple of golden opportunities to goal. He was having a great duel with Demons coach Woosnam, and after the Demons weathered
the early storm, they put on another three goals on the trot, including a great snap by
60 points and to Lucindales credit they kept at it, with McDowell kicking a much needed goal. Cains kicked his teams 6th thanks to a
soft 50 metre penalty and the 24 minute mark, Smith finally kicked his second to bring the margin back to 39 points at the last change.
Three Quarter Time: Naracoorte 14.10 (94) to Lucindale 7.13 (55)
The opening seconds of the final term saw Rohan Smith take a courageous mark, but the resultant turnover luckily didnt prove costly
as Fiegert missed from just 30 metres out. With Lucindale still full of run, the finals like intensity was starting to show on Naracoorte,
who were starting to flag. Smith goaled at the four minute mark from the right forward pocket and after dominating the play goaled
again after 11 minutes, thanks to a mark from Fisher the gap now just 24 points. Fisher had another chance to goal shortly after but
missed and thankfully for a tired homeside, Dixon slotted one off the ground (his 6th) in the goal square to give Naracoorte a 29 point
lead and some much needed breathing space.
At the 20 minute mark, Fisher made up for his earlier miss, kicking a quick reply and then Fiegert let a chance go begging, kicking a
behind which drew Bronx cheers from the home crowd gathered in front of clubhouse bar. Despite the missed opportunities, Lucindale
was all over Naracoorte, with Fisher goaling from the goal square to kick his 4th and then elusive play by Cains saw another one go through.
At the 29 minute mark, McDowell took a mark and received a fifty to bring the margin to just four points, with two minutes left.
From the centre bounce, Naracoorte managed to hold the ball up and when the siren went after 31:23, it was a relieved home side who had
given Lucindale their first taste of defeat for 2006.

ROUND SIX
In the top of the table clash, Lucindale proved too good for Border Districts by 55 points, Phil Smith on fire kicking eight - henow has
47 this season. Lucindale still have a few injury concerns with coach Smart (stress fractures in his leg) and Nigel Fiegert (hamstring)
out for another week or two. Keith moved into second spot, thanks to a ten goal effort from Jim West, in their hammering of
Bordertown by 151 points.
Naracoorte managed to come from three goals behind in the third quarter to defeat Mundulla by 40 points, its just the second time the
Demons have beaten the Tigers in the KNTFL. The win did come at a price, with captain Brett Pope & assistant coach Jeff Hunter

from injury over the next 3 weeks
Kybybolite had its fourth win of the season, defeating Kaniva-Leeor by 45 points, despite the absence gun forward Leigh Curnow.

seven while Phil Smith bagged three.
